With regards to your question, the Historic Scotland guide who took us on a tour of the Cathedral said that they have many people who come from all over the world to see the ‘Templar grave.’ The Knight in question is William Hay of Lochloy. According to the History of Nairn, the woods of Lochloy were once Templar possessions. Interestingly, William Hay of Lochloy died in the same year as William Hay of Yester. Could both William’s have been the same person? Certainly, the evidence is more circumstantial than concrete that there was a Templar connection. Nevertheless, the myth persists.
